Polytechnic Lodge Ghost Hunting Event
Come with us to an organised ghost hunting night at the haunted Bilsington Priory in Kent on Friday 3rd March 2023. Believe it or not, some members of The Polytechnic Lodge have attended many structured and organised ghost hunting nights, and now invite members to come along with them to experience the paranormal.
The event on 3rd March is a professionally run event run by a specialist company that has been running ghost hunting nights since 2012.
You will spend time in a group, (hopefully just us if numbers allow) with Mediums doing séances, where they will try to get the active spirit to move you in some way (this is not designed to scare you) and other paranormal investigators doing experiments such as table tilting, glass divination, Ouija boards, dowsing, pendulums, automatic writing, EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena a.k.a. ghost voice) experiments and other audio experiments using the latest ghost hunting equipment.
After these controlled sessions, you will have the opportunity to venture off on your own or in small groups doing lone vigils or re-visiting an activity that you enjoyed in the controlled sessions. In this part of the night, you can use the company’s ghost hunting equipment to do your own ghost hunt. You may take photos/videos with your own cameras throughout the ghost hunts.
About Bilsington Priory
St Augustine’s Priory, Bilsington, Kent was founded by John Mansel in June 1253 with the consent of Henry III and the Archbishop of Canterbury professing the rule of St Augustine. St Augustine’s Priory was surrendered to the crown in 1535 and it was abandoned at Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries in 1538.
During the 1820s it was a base for smuggling gangs namely the Ransley Gang and The Aldington Gang. The Priory was restored in 1906. During the Second World War troops were billeted at St Augustine’s Priory and at some point it was also an infirmary.
Previous Ghost Hunting at Bilsington Priory
BilsingtonPriory has been investigated by our Ghost Hunting Company since 2017 and has witnessed; disembodied voices, coughs, whistles, and footsteps. Guests have been pushed to the floor and held there during séances. Lots of personal information has been received via Ouija boards. Recent events at the location caused someone to go into a trance and attempted to walk down the spiral staircase on their own!
Favourite areas in the Priory for paranormal activity are:- The celebration room, especially with the technical equipment and gadgets. The ground floor/bar for tables and ouija boards, although the kitchen can sometimes be spooky too. The rooms in the Tower though are where most of the unexplained activity takes place, from interesting séance sessions and human pendulum sessions.
